Laura Van Prooyen, poet

Laura Van Prooyen, a 2019 Artist Foundation of San Antonio grant award winner, is author of two collections of poetry: Our House Was on Fire, nominated by Philip Levine, awarded the McGovern Prize (Ashland Poetry Press) and the 2015 Writers League of Texas the poetry book of the year, and Inkblot and Altar (Pecan Grove Press). She is also co-author, with Gretchen Bernabei, of Text Structures from Poetry, poetry lessons for grades 4-12 (Corwin Literacy forthcoming 2020), Van Prooyen teaches in the Low-Residency MFA Creative Writing Program at Miami University of Ohio and lives in San Antonio, TX. www.lauravanprooyen.com
