Kimberly Sparr, viola

KIMBERLY SPARR is Associate Professor Viola at Louisiana State University and faculty at the Brevard Music Center Institute. Equally skilled as a soloist, chamber and orchestral violist, she has garnered praise for her versatility and virtuosity across the United States and beyond. She is a founding member of the Atlantic Chamber Ensemble and is the former Assistant Principal Viola of the Richmond Symphony and Colorado Music Festival Orchestra. Dr. Sparr has previously served on the faculties of Texas Tech University, The College of William and Mary, and UMBC. She has also been on faculty at the National Music Festival, the Collaborative Strings Institute, and Summer Strings Academy for Girls. Sparr has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Memphis Symphony, Amarillo Virtuosi, the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra, the Texas Tech University Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Music Festival Orchestra, LSU Symphony and Wind Ensemble, the Crane Symphonic Band, and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. An advocate for new music, Sparr has commissioned works by Molly Joyce, Ned McGowan, Armando Bayolo, D. J. Sparr, Caroline Mallonee, Joel Pucket, and Mason Bates. Sparr is known for her collaborative spirit, unique program curation, and inventive concerts.
