James Wyatt Hendricks

Growing up on a farm on the south side of San Antonio I formed a perspective that most people don’t get the opportunity to experience. I am inspired by nature which I believe is perfection.

My artwork covers a wide range of mediums including painting, drawing, integrated stone sculpture, blacksmith steel, cast bronze,  and traditional welding. My sculptures are inspired by the movement and forms you see in nature, attention is given to all details and are an important element of my art. I bridge together echoes of nature, which all mankind holds in his subconscious, and fuse this with what we know about the industrial world in which we live. My art reflects the emotion I feel in myself and the emotion I feel in others.

My goal is to touch someone's emotions, to have them feel what I might feel. As an artist, from my point of view, I do not have a choice.

Producing art is very personal, not everyone will like what you do. For art to be successful, it must affect a person (positively or negatively) emotionally, as well as challenge them intelligently. Art must provoke thought and/or emotions.
