Thelma Ortiz-Muraida

An accomplished artist and graphic designer, Ortiz-Muraida received her Bachelor of Arts from Trinity University and continued her training with graduate work in printmaking and textiles at the Art Students League in New York and Eastern Michigan University. Her work experience in publishing led her to design numerous books of poetry and art catalogs. Ortiz-Muraida is also a published illustrator of six children’s picture books, seven early childhood readers and various articles for the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Saguaro journal of the arts and others. New works are scheduled for publication by the end of the year with authors Ellen Riojas Clark and Carmen Tafolla.
Fine art remains the basis for all her creative activity. Her visual artwork is expressed through vivid colors and cultural patterns that reflect her heritage, our connections with each other, our roots and our surroundings. Her artwork has been exhibited throughout Texas, New York, California, Michigan and in printed material displayed throughout the U.S. and Europe.
