Liz Lee, violin

Haerim Elizabeth Lee captivates audiences worldwide, “leaving them breathless with impeccable phrasing and relevant musicality” (El Norte, Mexico). She has appeared as a guest soloist with the Festival Orchestra Unibac in Cartagena, Filharmonic Bohuslava Martinu, Olimpia Orchestra, Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de la UNAL, Seoul Virtuosi, DCMF Sinfonietta, Winston- Salem Symphony and TCU Symphony Orchestra.

A versatile and sought-after artist, Ms. Lee has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia as both a soloist and chamber musician. As a member of the Evita String Quartet, she received the Bronze Medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Her performances have taken her to many prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center, the Banff Centre, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and LG Concert Hall in Korea.

As both performer and scholar, Ms. Lee has distinguished herself as a visionary advocate for new and cross-cultural repertoire. She was the inaugural recipient of the Tarisio Young Artist Grant, awarded for her leadership as Artistic Director of MoKo Musik, a collective dedicated to the promotion and commissioning music for a mixed ensemble of Korean traditional and Western instruments. An active collaborator with today’s leading composers, she gave the U.S. premiere of Unsuk Chin’s Double Bind? for violin and electronics. Most recently, supported by the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University, MoKo Musik recorded a newly commissioned work by Texu Kim written for the ensemble.

Ms. Lee has participated in renowned festivals such as the International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove, Banff Centre, Aspen Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Center, Sarasota, Schleswig-Holstein, Music Academy of the West. She is the Co-Founder and Director of the Texas Chamber Music Institute and Founder and Director of MoKo Musik. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Violin and Director of Chamber Music at the TCU School of Music. Her album, My Time Is Now is available on the Innova label.
